It is highly prized for its white, tender flesh, so tender that, as the Americans say, it melts in your mouth. For this characteristic it is also called butterfish.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The black cod is a wild fish that lives in the North Pacific Ocean, in waters 300 metres deep and below. Adult specimens can reach depths of up to 1800 metres. It is a fatty, omega-3 rich fish that feeds on small crustaceans (krill) and cephalopods.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aloia Foods&#8217; black cod is hooked in the Gulf of Alaska and the Bering Sea and frozen on board.
